This project is a series of ‘unsuccessful’ animal portraits.
I observed how animals are often used by humans as gimmicks or symbolic carriers in advertising, marketing, and commercial imagery—tools to grab attention and guide consumer behavior. Over time, this practice has become a visual cliché, folding animals into the broader logic of entertainment and consumption.
Inspired by this, I organized a series of photo experiments with animals as the central subjects, attempting to direct and make use of them to create images— as people often do. However, without exception, I was met with their “refusal.” In the end, I decided to preserve their most honest reactions to these artificial situations: gestures of resistance, indifference, rejection, even contempt. These moments of “non-cooperation” became the core of the project. Alongside each animal portrait, I created stickers using their most iconic representations from cartoons, advertisements, and other media. Through these stickers, we can observe how human emotions and values are projected onto animal imagery. These figures are packaged, exaggerated, and reimagined—transformed into artificial visual symbols that go far beyond the animals themselves.
